Color Crush-SW Pewter Green

Friday, September 15, 2017

Once or twice a year, I will have a photo or design that I feel smitten with.  One that will take my breath away and make me want to redo everything in the house.

Y'all.

This color.

Sherwin Williams Pewter Green.

I think I'm in love.  I saw this color and went and bought a sample of it and one shade darker to test.

Pewter Green was the winner.  I already bought a gallon and I need it in my life. It's sort of a grayed out olive green, and reminds me of rosemary, olive tree leaves, and of a really great army green jacket.  It goes well with bronze, gold, and chrome.

This kitchen by Urban Grace Interiors uses SW Retreat, which is one shade lighter than Pewter Green.  Love it too!

I feel really inspired to use this color and will share one of the ideas tomorrow.

  1. It is a beautiful color. I painted the exterior of my home in pewter green.💜

  2. Can you send me a photo of it?? Have to choose our exterior color and this is one of two finalists but can’t find many exterior samples. Does it appear lighter once on especially in sunlight?

    1. Hi Fallon, I used the original, Pewter Green, on a couple of doors upstairs and on a bathroom vanity downstairs! I feel like you catch the full beauty of it in natural light!

    1. Sure! I tend to stick with a Satin finish for cabinets. I planned to use the SW ProClassic line, but didn't realize you couldn't get it tinted in dark colors. It doesn't come in a deep base. I have since found out about the Emerald Urethane Trim Enamel from Sherwin Williams which is good for cabinets and doors. I think I used the Duration line at the time. I'm not sure if you were asking about all of that, but I hope that helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

    2. Did you have to prime your cabinets before using the Urethane Trim enamel? I have fairly new cabinets with a smooth satin finish and I just want to change the color of the kitchen island...should i prime first?

  6. Hi there! I didn't have the Urethane Trim Enamel at the time I painted my cabinets, but technically you probably should. If only for the fact that the kitchen is usually a high traffic area, so more opportunity for the paint to be banged against. I hope that helps!
